Chub AI is a hub for roleplay character cards with its own chat front-end. A flat subscription, paid only in crypto, unlocks Chub’s hosted models in the app and through an OpenAI-compatible API. Its docs describe its “Mars” line as “our suite of uncensored language models finetuned on public datasets”. We list 1 model, its flagship Soji.
This review is based on Chub’s published plans, documentation, and policies, checked on October 11, 2026. Benchmark results from our own runs will be added when they’re complete. Live details are on the Chub AI provider page.
The short version
| Best for | Character roleplay with community cards, at a flat price for unlimited messages |
| Uncensored models | 1 listed (fine-tuned); we couldn’t verify the full list |
| Per-token price | None: flat subscription only |
| Plans | Free front-end with your own API keys; $20/mo subscription (crypto only) |
| Privacy score | 35 / 100, joint 18th of 35 |
| Watch out for | Crypto-only payment, and no named company or jurisdiction |
Models
Chub’s hosted models are its own fine-tunes. The one we list is Soji, which Chub gives as 1.6T parameters with a 60,000-token context window. Chub doesn’t say which base model it’s built on.
Chub’s documentation names the hosted line “Mars” and calls it uncensored, fine-tuned “on public datasets as well as our own proprietary data”. We’d like to list every model in the subscription, but we couldn’t: Chub’s inference endpoint was region-blocked when we checked, so we couldn’t confirm the full catalog. That’s why the count here is 1. See it on the Models page.
You don’t have to use Chub’s models at all. The front-end and card library are free to use with API keys from other providers.
Pricing
Chub’s pricing is simple:
- Free: the front-end and character cards cost nothing if you bring your own API key from another provider. Chub’s own models only come with one-time trial credits.
- Subscription, $20/mo: unlimited single-user access to all of Chub’s hosted models, including Soji, plus voice and image features. The docs call this the Mars subscription and describe it as “unlimited messaging”.
There’s no per-token price, so we can’t give a cost per 1,000 chats. The plan covers a single user.
The catch is payment. The subscription is paid in crypto only. If you don’t already hold crypto, factor in the time and fees of buying some. If you’d rather pay in crypto anyway, it’s a plus.
Privacy
Chub scores 35 / 100 on our privacy rubric, which only gives points for documented claims:
| Rubric item | Chub AI | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt retention | API inputs and outputs not logged (metadata only); private chats stored to run the service | 10 / 20 |
| No training on prompts | Stated | 15 / 15 |
| Technical guarantee (TEE / E2EE) | No | 0 / 20 |
| Signup | Account required | 3 / 8 |
| Crypto payments | Crypto only | 7 / 7 |
| Jurisdiction | Not found | 0 / 10 |
| Upstream hosts disclosed | No | 0 / 10 |
| Independent audit | No | 0 / 10 |
That’s joint 18th of 35. The policy is reasonably clear on the points that matter most: API traffic isn’t logged beyond metadata, and private chats aren’t used for training. Chats you keep in the app are stored, which is how it works as a chat service.
What’s missing is accountability. We couldn’t find a named legal entity or jurisdiction in Chub’s terms or privacy policy. That costs it 10 points here, and it means you don’t know which country’s law governs your data or your subscription.
Access and payment
- Web chat front-end and an OpenAI-compatible API for subscribers.
- Account required. 18+ only.
- Crypto only for the subscription.
- No legal entity or jurisdiction found.
How it compares
- Same price, named company: Infermatic Plus is also $20/mo, takes card or crypto, is a Delaware company, and scores 40 on privacy. We list 9 roleplay fine-tunes there.
- More models for the money: Arli AI has flat plans from $15/mo, and we list 131 models.
- Pay as you go in crypto: NanoGPT needs no account and takes crypto from $0.10, billed per token. We list 137 models there, many of them roleplay fine-tunes.
Verdict
Chub makes sense if you already use its character cards and want one flat price for unlimited roleplay on its own models. The free front-end is useful even if you never subscribe, and the logging and training statements are better than many roleplay apps.
Look elsewhere if you can’t or won’t pay in crypto, want to know which company you’re dealing with, or need to see the full model list before paying. We’ll update the count when we can verify it.
